Dr. Chris Jackman

Dr. Christopher S. Jackman completed his medical degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland, graduating with the highest average from biochemistry with honours and from medicine amongst the top of his class. He then completed his specialization in ophthalmology with the Ivey Eye Institute at the University of Western Ontario, where he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Medical Retina at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Ghislain Boudreault

Dr. Ghislain-André Boudreault received his medical degree from Université Laval. He spent part of his training as a resident at the prestigious Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and went on to complete fellowships at George Washington University in Washington, DC, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland and at Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Boudreault holds the distinction of being the first Canadian to rank first overall for the American Board of Ophthalmology’s oral exam.

Dr. Yao Wang

Dr. Wang received his Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University in 2010, followed by his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 2014. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Queen’s University where he served as chief resident and obtained his Royal College of Physicians of Surgeons of Canada specialist certification in 2019. He then remained at Queen’s to obtain a subspecialty fellowship in Medical Retina which he finished in 2020.

Dr. H. Dang

Dr. Harry Dang was born and raised in Markham, Ontario, and earned his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at the University of Toronto. He graduated at the top of his class, placed in the 99th percentile on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and entered medical school a year ahead of his peers.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Dang ranked 1st in his class in Ophthalmology, earning him the Clinician Competency Award. He also received several prestigious awards and honours, including the Eye Foundation of Canada National Scholarship, the Dr. T. Fejer Ophthalmology Award, and the Health Advocate Award for his exceptional compassion towards patients.

He subsequently moved to the beautiful Canadian East Coast and graduated from Dalhousie University after completing 5 years of Ophthalmology residency training. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and a member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Dang is known for his compassionate, approachable, and friendly demeanor, and is eager to build collaborative relationships with local optometrists and other healthcare professionals. His goal is to foster a comprehensive and empathetic approach to eye health in the region.

Dr. N. Nofal

Dr. Nour Nofal earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Montreal, Quebec and her Residency in Ophthalmology at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. She was named Chief Resident and won the Resident Cataract Surgical Skills Award in her graduating year. Afterwards, she completed a year-long fellowship specializing in Cornea at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She specialized in cornea transplants, corneal cross-linking, complex anterior segment and cataract surgeries. Dr Nofal’s work has been featured in a variety of publications including journals and books such as Cornea and the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology.

With over 2,000 procedures performed, Dr. Nofal specializes in cornea transplants, corneal cross-linking (CXL), complex anterior segment and cataract surgeries. Her main location of practice is in Ontario, flying into St John’s every 6-8 weeks to bring her expertise in cornea pathologies and surgeries to the province. Dr. Nofal is accepting referrals effective immediately.

During her free time, Dr. Nofal is an avid scuba diver, pilates instructor, skier, and pilot. Her biggest passion is flying and you’ll often find her flying planes on floats as well as gliders across Canada.

Dr. T. Parsons

The Jackman Eye Institute would like to welcome optometrist, Dr. Tyler Parsons, to our clinic! Dr. Parsons was born and raised in Torbay, NL. He obtained his BSc from MUN in 2014 and Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2018. During his studies at UWaterloo, Dr. Parsons was on the Dean’s list each academic year. Additionally, he wasawarded a scholarship for excellence in vision therapy. Throughout his training, Dr. Parsons spent time at differentspecialized clinics, obtaining experience and skills in multiple areas of eye/vision care – including ocular health, binocular vision, and contact lenses. Dr. Parsons will be working closely with our team of ophthalmologists. If an ophthalmology consult is warranted, whether it be cataracts, glaucoma, or any retinal concerns, a timely referral will be made. Additionally, he will have access to a wide variety of diagnostic equipment that is essential in managing ocular disease. Dr. Parsons is happy to be in Newfoundland with his friends and family.
